3rd graders used a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast Halloween and Día de los Muertos. Then, this week they became masters at decorating their first Calavera de Azúcar at school. 💀🎉
November 2 is the official Día de los Muertos date. 6th graders continued to showcase their creative Shoebox Ofrendas at school. These students dedicated the ofrendas to grandparents, uncles, celebrities including Aretha Franklin and Michael Jackson to name a few. Also, students were thrilled to include all their pets that have passed away.💙❤️

Last week during Red Ribbon Week each student at HCGC planted a tulip bulb as a reminder to make healthy choices. 🌷🌎 #redribbonweek2023
4th graders drew an Ofrenda de Papel to honor and remember loved ones that have passed away. The paper Ofrendas included family members, pets, and celebrities.
6th graders created Shoebox Ofrendas to honor and remember loved ones that have passed away. The students had the opportunity to present in class and showcase their project in the auxiliary hallway. The Shoebox Ofrendas included 12 components. Some of the elements were; papel picado, flores de cempasúchil, pan de muertos, and pictures of family members, pets, or celebrities.

Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM) is celebrated September 15 through October 15 every year in the United States. During this time we recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of the American Latino community (sites.ed.gov).
HCGC students completed a mini researched project on HHM before leaving for Fall Break. Habit #3 Put first things first… Work first then play!💻🍁
