MHS Track

Marion's annual visit to the Brookland Bearcat Relays last week was a prosperous one for Patriot track.

The MHS boys finished second overall at the regional meet, by a single point to Jonesboro, and the girls claimed an overall third-place finish.

Marion's visit to Brookland was not short on individual accomplishments, either.

Lady Patriot tracksters Aniyah Broyles (800 meters) and A'laya Smith (triple jump) won individual events at the Bearcat Relays, while Rico Ward (100 meters), Chris Hardin (400 meters), and the boys 4X4 and 4X8 teams also finished first.

Patriot girls also earned silver medals in the 4X1 and 4X2 events, while Laniya Crayton ranked second in the high jump.

Marion's guys got silver-medal performances from Jeremiah Dent (100 meters), Rico Ward (200 meters), and Jose Ramirez (3200 meters and 800 meters).

Marion's girls took home third place in the 4X8, while the Marion men took the bronze in the 4X1 and the 4X2.

Marion hosts the annual Patriot relays on Tuesday, April 14, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
